Hey fellas this is your local **** distributor,
Here's the problem, car has good battery, fuel systems a go, spark is there, starter works and car turns over . .. but it just won't start up.
Any ideas? Where exactly is the Main Relay?

if its an eg main relay is to the left of the fuse box under dash brown rectangle piece. If its ek its behind glove box

 

Wouldn't it only be the main relay if it was a fuel issue, i.e. you didn't hear the fuel pump?

 

fuel pump primes . .so i think we can forget about the main relay

 

i also need help on this issue, same as his, everything is in working order. is there anything else that i could be? lmk asap... Thanks

 

im having the same issue. The car has spark, Fuel pumps both work, battery is good, Changed out the Fuel pressure reg and the coil just to make sure those werent the problems, all the fuses are good, did a compression test and has compression, and i did disconnect the distributor completely b4 i did the compression test. IDEAS PLEASE> Im going nuckin futs tryin to figure it out.

 

Check the main relay. I don't ever here my fuel pump though, even if I try. Maybe it's crapping out on me .

I don't think so. Not sure.

No, if the fuel pump primes, and you have spark its not the main relay.

3 things to start a car.

Fuel
Spark
Timing

Check your timing, if its dead on then try holding the throttle a little open so more air can go in. Sometimes thats the problem.

Also do a compression test and see if you have compression.

Also things that could be wrong is bad grounds. But it turns over so thats more then likely not it.

Try those and if it still doesnt work let us know.

What was the last thing you did to your car before it wouldnt start?

 

might sound dumb but make sure your wires aren't mixed up. and check all your fuses. it might be the ACG fuse because they do give symptons of a bad main relay, fuel pump........then again you said your fuel pump is priming so yeah gl

 

I had the same problem a while back. Replaced the distributor and rotor and car was able to start again. Maybe its that?

 

Check ALL your fuses as well, I had a car that wouldn't start because the fuse for the dash lights was missing. Car would turn over but not start, also wouldn't shift from park. I never thought to check it tho because the lights never came on period so that's a place to check that is often over looked.

mine was sparking and all the other stuff too, but it turned out that the ignitor in the distributor was weak and not giving enough spark to start. I replaced it and it runs great.
