Default For track: Panther + up front, thinking about options for rear pads...

I was heat cycling the panther plus's yesterday, and was laughing when they went from "cold, reasonable braking" to "the pad that clings with god's own power"....of course Carbotech Andy told me that i'd be dealing with some pretty significant brake bias running stock in the rear and track pads up front, so now i'm thinking about my options for a rear pad. I could get more panther +s in the rear, but they're kinda pricey and i've been spending so much to get ready for VIR every dollar i can save is good news....does anyone have experience running mismatched pairs front and rear? I was looking at the EBC greenstuff...it's not too expensive, has a coefficient of friction that's not far off from the Panther plus, and while i'm sure it wouldn't hold up nearly as well on the front, since the rear isn't going to be getting hammered brake-wise nearly as hard, would this be a viable option? Thanks for honest answers, if matching pads front and rear is the only way to go, so be it

Most of us run "mismatched" pads between the front and the rear. The back only accounts for 20% of your stopping power so IMO that isn't enough to warrant the cost of better pads. I currently run Blues in the front and $17 sh:t pads in the back and I have had no problems.

tried a search for "rear brakes", probably should've tried "rear pads" My rear pads have plenty of material on them after lots of autoX, 20k miles, and 2 track days...but remembering the difference in braking from my GS-R to my type R (largely as a result of the better bias i think), i don't wanna give up any stopping power. Thanks for making the "spend-no-money" option a viable one in my head though

Don't buy EBC. If you want, just skip out on rear pads this event. Just don't late brake too, uh... late. When the back starts wiggling like mad, you've found your latest braking point.

When the back comes about 10 degrees around THE WRONG WAY under braking, well... That's when you back off the next lap... Hope the corner workers enjoyed the show

I think i might get some AEM/Nissin pads, they seem cheap and would be an improvement over stock to a certain extent...as for braking points, i'll just ignore "going faster" and adjust my points in huge chunks..."well, if that worked, another 50 feet should work too!"

thanks for all replies, as always.

My O.E. rear pads lasted ~25,000 miles. When I need another set... I will "try" the AEM/Nissin units.

-cheap
-slightly better(?) than O.E. pads

-who asked about the AEM pads... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=108714

i used Carbotech Panthers on my rear last time at VIR, it actually evend out braking a little better and made trailbraking a little easier
I did tend to drag the right rear into 11 though...........
