Default removing shift forks (d16)

Was tooling around under the car last night and i couldnt figure out how to get the shift forks off. I looked in my helms and that didnt help any either.

I searched and found this thread but thats not helping me.

You have to get the tranny out of the car first. The tranny has two halves which must be split apart in order to get to the shift forks.

Are you talking about how to get shift linkage un-done - the rolled-spring pin? You just need a 8mm non-tapered punch and a 10lb mini-sledge to get that bitch out.

Basically i just need to get the linkage off so i can pull the motor. I have a built long block waiting to go in.

Now that 8mm non tapered punch? i dont know what that is. Are you talking about pushing that "pin" thru so you can remove the linkage? its really hard to explain. if i had a pic....

Can i loosen that rubber boot. Then remove that clamp in the shape on a C. Finally push that block pin thru and the linkage should pull out? Is that correct or am i high?

let me know!

*edit* OMG i have 1337 posts now!

Yes, you are correct...

Pull the boot back, remove the c-clip thing, and pound out the pin... use a non-tappered 8mm, or 5/16" punch, should slide right out...

With it being $2.86, is it worth it to find out that the answer was yes?

It's there for a reason... and it's super cheap from Honda so you might as well replace it...

Your car will probably be fine without it but it's so easy to replace I wouldn't risk it.

so u have the c clamp now? or u still dont have it and u can't get under your car becuase.... its to low? if so just jack it up? and also i wouldnt run the rick of having my shift linkage come undo when i was driving and bend or mess up somting worse. its easy to pop in just move the rubber boot back and slip it on.
