Would these mods that will take me out of STS?
First, would removing my rear seats take me out of STS?
Also, would a Zex NOS kit that was not engaged or in-use take me out of STS for any reason?
I knew a guy that was running a Zex kit at a track-day event (high speed touring/no passing event) but I was curious if running a Zex would be against most tracks rules even for non-competitive events. I don't know if he even had permission to do so at this event. Feel free to
me if this is a big no-no, but that's why I'm asking.
The reason I ask is that I know if I get a super-charger to give me more speed on the track, it will take me out of STS for sure. I only want the super charger for non-auto-x track and drag events. So the idea (probably a bad one) of using a Zex kit, would give me about the same HP increase, used only at a track events or at the drag strip. And then it could be disabled for auto-x events where it obviously would not be allowed. The question though, (well first, is this a dumb idea? haha) is would just having a Zex installed take me out of STS for some reason even if it was disabled?
thanks!
(feel free to tell me why this is a Bad Idea!

taking out the rear seats will bump you out of STS.
the Zex kit only adds weight and takes up space if you're not using it - wont bump you out - however i think using it out on the track can be inherently unsafe for both you and your engine... nitrous is extremely counterproductive on an autoX course
I've seen the results...
a supercharger will put you in street mod, and is probably a better upgrade, if done properly, than a Nos kit... IMHO, YMMV.

I don't think most track will let you run with a NOS bottle in your car. It would be pretty useless at AutoX too, and some clubs would probably not allow it either.
interior must remain in STS. You should pick up a rule book if you want to find definitive rules. You can have reclineable seats for the fronts.
Most regions that I know of will not allow a car to run with a NOS bottle hooked up or not. Imagine the brackets coming loose and that bottle becoming a missile (compressed gas is dangerous).

Put your seats back in you stunna!
But seriously, I will only put the seats back in if I decide not to get the JRSC.
stay in STS besides you'll have more fun "trying" to beat people you already know.

I suppose I could do some mods that would actually be beneficial, like get a spoon oil-cap or red valve cover.

trying huh? hmmm, was this me "trying" to beat people I know?
thats ok it was only my second autoX event. We'll see what happens this year tho'.

tell...
yea...i like adding alittle "individuality" to my car.
wow you got me there. You would post my worst showing also.

Back on topic, I think the posts here confirm what I thought all along, Zex bad idea... stay in STS good idea...
although, if I do go JRSC, I won't have a choice. So we'll see. I'll make that decision after I pickup the K1's and Kumho v700's, maybe that will be enough to sway me from thinking I need more power. Is that going to make me STX this year?
BTW: anyone know where I can get a front left fender for a '95 teg? How much $$$ is that gonna run me?
Thanks man - that was what I was expecting. I think the guy I knew that did it probably did it without the knowledge of the event staff. tsk tsk.
If I decide to go for more power, it'll be via FI, JRSC most likely.
thanks again to everyone's comments!
(note: I don't know WTF I was thinking when I wrote that original subject line... I must have started editing the subject and didn't re-read it! I'm illiterate!)
