Intermittent bogging around 4k-help!
Hey guys, here's the situation: One of my 92 gsr's only problems is that, intermittently, the engine bogs considerably @ around 4k rpm, both at part and full throttle. Usually the car runs great, but this is really annoying and seems to be getting more frequent
Any input is greatly appreciated...

Interesting, mine started diong the same thing, but at 6k and up and getting worse.
Is the mil on? If so, troubleshoot according to the Helms if you have one. Either way I would take an approach by eliminating the most likely and easiest possibility. Do you have a code?

Yup same problem for my 95 integra gsr, around 4-5k and then another problem is when i tend to walk away and let the engine warm up it shuts off by itself. This car is starting to annoy the hell out of me, it wont pick up and all and has No more "GO" in it as it tends to shake upcontrollable at 50mph and it wont go any faster. I already put in a new distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and ignition wires, cleaned the fuel injectors etc. Any help is appreciated for the three of us
I'm not sure if I should throw in my 2 cents since I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject, but if you can isolate the problem between ignition and fuel you'll be one step closer. Fortuantely, I already have a wide band and a crap load of gauges (that almost look rediculous). My problem my be much different from yours, but I can watch my fuel ratios go from 10:1 to 16:1 at anything over 4k rpm. If it's in the middle, it does fine. I have ruled out the tps and the map sensor as they show decent voltage. Now my first stab will be the ecu. The nature of this problem is a bit challenging since it isn't "broke enough" and doesn't show a code. I would assume that severe ignition trouble would show up as a misfire, but am not sure.
You guys might want to check your tps and map signal voltage while inducing the symptoms to see if anything fluctuates abnormally. All that is, of course, if you've eliminated the easy stuff like fuel starvation due to a clogged filter or something retarded like that. Good luck.

yeah that sounds about right....last time i went to the performance shop they cleaned the lifters and head and checked the fuel and reworked the ecu and then everything worked fine for about 8months... Now the problem pops back up and its wosier than it was before.
