I've Got a Screw in my Tire
I just noticed a screw in my rear passenger tire - it looks like it has been there for awhile. I'm not losing any air - I just checked my pressure a day ago.
It is about 1" - 1.5" from the inside sidewall. Is this reapairable?

it can be fixed no prob.....just go to any mechanic shop.....takes about 15 min,, i got a couple of nails stuck in my tires, one i didn't touch and it was do'n just fine, but another one (in my front tire) magically diappeard after peeling out and my tire went flat in a matter of seconds, got that fixed too though!

you may have to unscrew it...don't drive them hard till you get it fixed, and after patching a tire looses it's speed rating (although D had a screw in one of his V700s, and he tracked it with the patch, no problem...do this at your own risk)

I got a nail in my tire about a month ago. Take it Discount Tire Co. and they'll fix it for free even if you didn't buy your tires there!
I'd take it to Discount Tire but I've waited around that damn place for 3 hours before...
The reason people say it will lose the "rating" is that once the tire has been "perforated" therethrough, there's the potential that if not properly repaired (read .. air tite from the inside and out), the steel portion of the radial can/will eventually begin to rust ... thereby leading to potential tread separation.
Don't ask me where I saw this, but it was from a relaible source/publication ... and I can't remember which (maybe Grassroots MS .. I read too much of this poo poo)!
BTW- aleph, there's a plug in one of those continentals!!
I was pretty sure I mention that when I sold them to you!

Screwed again, eh?
Zygspeed is 100% correct. You need to have the tire 'plugged' rather than patched. A plug goes through the hole, sealing it, preventing rust and ply separation.
Good luck!

hehe, don't think you mentioned it, but i noticed it, don't worry. They all hold air, and i'm not doing alot of aggressive driving on those things
They were wobbling a bit at the end of the mulsanne straight at around 230 mph, but it's nothing that phased me.

Twice I have gotten screws in my RE010's, and both times Discount Tire Company repaired them, for free. Saved me over $300! BTW, I had bought snow tires from them in the winter, so that's why they did not charge me.
