Default OCTANE BOOSTER QUESTION?

i just tried some octane booster from NOS the other day and apparently they **** up the spark plus and combustion chamers ? Now when I first start my car take off it will sputter for a second then take off, but it only does it once in awhile. could that be the plugs or maybe something else? I know it is not the ignition timing because it is set at stock 16 degrees and was just timed the other day. What the hell could it be? Any help will be much appreciated.

Never heard of it effecting plugs, but Octane booster is worthless anyways.
If you really want to bump up the octane levels try those Toluene (sp) or Xylene mixes. The Supra and GN guys love that stuff.

you could'ver fould a plug depending on your mixture. Pull one out and see if its real black or covered in oil or worse.

Also if you haven't done it in awhile it wouldn't hurt to change the fuel filter

Yeah, octane boosters are worthless. Sure they can "raise your octane up to 8 points" but do a little research and you will find that "one point" of an octane is actually .1 of an octane. So that $6 bottle just raised your gas from 89 to 89.8! Just buy some injector cleaner and fill up with 93.

Thank you guys, I thought I fouled a plug because it was pretty covered in oil and looked like ***. And the fuel filter should be changed, it is the stock one and has never been tampered with. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. thanks again

If it is stock and never ben replaced then you should change it. It is a fileter and it will clog up and cause some issues.

octane booster is not real. just like the spoon.
one of the sport compact magazines did a review and it bearly raises the octane level on 93 gas, on 89 it raises it alittle. just get race gas.

Well I don't know about over there in the U.S. but here in NZ we get 98 octane. Someone I know of put 98 and octane boost in and kegged his Teg off it's wheels. You really only need it when you have an ultra-high CR and want to stop the box detonating. Injector cleaner does what it's name says, but to clean them properly you want to go to a specialist place and get them properly cleaned with pressurized solvent. If you're buying octane boost for more power, then stop. Put a Vtec sticker on the back or your car instead.
