Edelbrock Turbo Kit UNDERBOOSTING? BOOST LEAK?
I have had my edelbrock kit installed in my D15B powered civic for a few months. Ever since the kit has been installed it has only boost 4-5 psi max, never any more than that. So the other day i decided i would try and narrow down the possibilities.
So i stopped the car, popped the hood and took off the vaccum line going to the internal wastegate, and got back in the car and drove it. I got barely half of a psi more than when the vaccum line was connected, yet i have no idea why.
I didn't think that there were any boost leaks anywhere, and I am a little unsure how to find them if the engine isn't under load.
I was also wondering if there were any other possibilities that could be causing the problem. The map on the piggyback ecu is set for a d16z6, while my car is running a D15B at the moment. This could mean that it is possibly a little too rich under boost. Other than that i don't really have a clue. I am open to any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would need to pull the exhaust flange up stream from the Downpipe to check the wastegate right, or can i just jiggle the linkage. THe other thing is that i know the wastegate linkage is adjustable, maybe i could fiddle with that to get the result i want.
ok well here is an update for more help.
I checked the silicone couplings between the charge pipes and i am not getting any boost leak, at least i think. But then again the vehicle isn't under load and its is at max getting 1 psi or pressure. But all of the clamps were very very tight.
I used a bike pump to check how the wastegate actuator was working. it did move under pressure, but that doesn't mean that it still couldn't be partially open all of the time. Still i do not think that this is the problem.
I think that it might be that the car is running too rich in boost. Could that cause the car to under boost? Or doe that really have nothing to do with it. just wondering before i go ahead and order the tuning link so i don't have to waste my time trying to diagnose it once i am going to a dyno.

We are having the same problem on a B16A2 kit. car boost 4-5psi at 7000rpms and barely anything under that all of our IC pipes and vacuum lines are solid. We will look at the IWG tomorrow evening.
my edelbrock kit was doing the same thing. i got a boost controller and adjusted it. u can also adjust the preload tension on the waste gate actuator even though edelbrock says not to adjust it. if ur charge pipes were leaking your blow off valve would sound weak. also if ur car is lowered check the flange on the elbo that goes from the turbo to charge pipes i've cracked three of them. they are very low to the ground. and check the compression fitting on the boost gauge, they are weak.

ive heard that edelbrock has been having problems with the wastegate actuator, the diaphram can be torn, pinched, etc.
also make sure your boost source to the wg is coming off of hte intake mani, not the turbo

Found out was wrong a long time ago and figured I would post the result.
