Default automatic b16 retainers

i have a b16 in my crx that was out of a automatic, well i just put supertech valvesprings in it and was going to put itr retainers, but the keepers on my stock retainers wouldnt seat on the itr retainers, i have heard that the retainers for all the b series motors are the same , but mine definately arent the same as the itrs and was just wondering if the automatic b16s came with different retainers then the manual ones and if so should i even replace them or will i be fine with the stock retainers and supertech valve springs on a b16 with skunk2 stage 2 cam reving to 8700, or should i get itr keepers and install my itr retainers.

WELL THEY ARE DIFFERENT THEN THE MANUALS RETAINERS RIGHT? I CURRENTLY HAVE SUPERTECH VALVESPRINGS AND STOCK RETAINERS, AND AM REVING TO 8700 RPMS AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SAFE.

1st gen valvesprings and retainers are not the same as newer b-series. disregarding of material.
1st gen retainers are thicker.

pretty sure the keepers are the same though; dont quote me on that. ill have to look

keepers that come with the alum/ti factory retainers are not compatable with anything else. put them side by side and you'll see a noticable difference.

yes, they are weaker. i know for a fact that 1st gen auto b16 retainers are made of a different material than the manual ones. and i know of a few guys that have dropped valves on the curcuit track while using the oem 1st gen auto 16 retainers. although, i've seen 2nd gen b16 auto retainers and they were the same as the 5spd 1st/2nd gen 16's. hope that helps.
