Ti Retainers do i need them ?
Okay i have a b20vtec, with a b16 head. Im going to purchase some skunk 2 stage 1 cams and im going to get some ITR valve spring complete. I was wondering do I need Ti retainers ? or I can use my stock b16 valves and b16 retainers up to 8500-8700rpm?

Re: Ti Retainers do i need them ? (Dual Cams)
people told me stock valves wont hold up is that true? Well If i need to get springs thats not problem and retainers. But valves are kinda pricey, so i wanna know if stock vavles can hold up to atleast 9k.
I also heard that I can use my stock b16 inner/outter springs and put it on my exhuast side. Then add itr inner/outter springs and get retainers. I should be able to rev up to 9k? Is that possible?

Is this birdie, chris's friend? well, if you're gonna get after market cams, just get valve springs and retiners. You don't need valves for a all motor car. I know peoplw who has stock valves and they're reving their motor up to 9500RPM plus and it works fine.
Try to stay away from using b16a valve springs and don't switch them from the intake to exhaust. just get some after market ones that would hold up some good cams.... If you want to rev high, you need good cams that would make power all the way up to high RPM, and good cams need some good valve train.
Get the skunk2 stage 2 cams. the stage one makes good power, but stage two would make more.

not much just chillin. if you're planning to build your motor in the furture get aftermarket valve train... you're going to need it sooner or later, unless you're going to weak way out, by getting some ITR cams and calling it quits

I heard of Ti retainers wearing down after a couple miles. Didn't know it was a wear part, but hey....
But anyways, the thing with regular valves is they probably should be able to take as much if not more rpms than "better" valves, but they'll need stiffer springs and/or less aggressive cams to control them. Valves like the Type R ones are lighter, so they need less spring.

how much hp will skunk 2 give when their tune ? im running a 11.5 compression is that fine? cause I heard you have to run 12:1 + for the cam to work really good ?

Birdie... lets pull your head out and mill a little. i can't really say how much power you'll gain with those cams, lets put it on a dyno with hondata, we'll see how it goes.

i dont like to milled head, I decided to go with stage I cause i can get a good price. If i want stage 2 later i'll up the compression with new piston. But I'll see how the stage 1 do with hondata.
BTW: thanks for all your comments
