Default Spoon N1 (DC2) owners: couple questions

Since the Spoon N1's don't come with bumpstops, it seems the stock bumpstops should be used. Did you guys cut the bumpstops at all, or just put them in as is? If you cut them, how much did you cut off? Also, can the stock dustboots be used with the N1's at all? I'm, guessing if they do fit that they may have to be shortened. If they don't work, is there anything that will work? OK, once those questions have been answered all i'll have to figure out is whether to go with 14k/12k springs or switch them and go with 12k/14k.
Thanks in advance.

all the n1's that i have seen in japan, dont use the bump stops or the covers due to the setup > n1 meaning your using them on flat surfaces so no real need for covers or bumpstops. plus the spring rates, all tell you your not suppose to use the bump stops or covers...

i assume your using this for the street??? you will hate them if your near by streets are bumpy or somewhat bumpy.. i would get a street setup but never a n1 setup for the street.

good luck

thanks for the reply, but i was asking people who own or have direct experience with this particular setup. I know the stock bumpstops are to be used, i just don't know if they need to be cut or not. fwiw, these are actually quite a good setup for the street with the spring rates i'm going with. Though i didn't really buy them for their street ability.

Yeah i read it, maybe i just missed something. i realize the concept of N1 and that it implies N1 endurance racing, and i realize these were created for that, although the valving isn't the same as the Spoon N1 cars used. I recalled some guys using OEM bumpstops on these, i guess just for extra security's sake, so was curious about it. Yeah i'm gonna use these on the street so i figured if i could alter the oem dustboots and put them on, it would only help their longevity. But as for the assumption that these will be very rough on the street i'm hoping that is incorrect. When i spoke with the guys at A&J i told them that i wanted something that would perform very well on the track/autocross, yet still be comfortable on the street, as i live three hours away from the nearest road course. The N1's are what they recommended, as did a friend who had tried alot of coilovers made for the DC2. I'll post up a review once i get them in and do a few events with them. Thanks for the info though, i realize you're just trying to help

yea your roads must be better than here in socal.. running buddy clubs with 12/8k is like being in a pop corn machine so hopefully it will be different for you.

and dont rely too much on what ajr says... (they didnt even know a spoon ef speedo gauge was till i showed them a picuture of it, if you can believe that one, yea i was scratching my head too, ofcoarse once i showed them the photo they backed tracked and said they misunderstood my questions. i sent them two emails saying the same thing, both answers were " they never made them")

good luck regardless

Oh man, our roads are really crappy here. But the Spoons should be more comfortable than the BC's, ( i narrowed my search down to those last two, BC's and Spoon's). I didn't buy them solely based on A&J's advice, it was mostly based on a friend's advice. This friend had them for a while and felt they were definately the smoothest setup he had. In his words, "with the 14k/12k setup, dare i say the ride is better than stock". If it's not nearly that good, i can live with it, as it's not my daily driver and i'll put up with it to have a faster setup on the track. If it's way too uncomfortable i'll just buy a set of 10k springs and run 10k/12k or if i really feel wimpy i'll get 8k/10k. But the Flex's i'm coming off weren't exactly cushy either. Those damn pillowball mounts transmitted so much high speed vibration. I found that stuff like frost heaves/big cracks in pavement were driving me nuts.
