SPOON N1 setup questions
hey guys,
ive searched and found posts on the Spoon N1 setups. But im a little confused on some terms. I want the exact setup as this https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1. But i dont know what is a b-pipe? and what effect it has on the Spoon N1. Does the b-pipe replace the stock pipes?
I heard without the B-pipe the Spoon N1 sounds raspy and high pitched.
Is there any other cheaper substitues for the T1R b-pipe?
please shed some light
thanks.

Re: SPOON N1 setup questions (S i R)
The B-pipe is the piping that goes from the cat to the Spoon N1. Yes, it replaces the stock pipe. Sound-wise, I'm not sure how it'll effect the N1 since I use mine with the stock B-pipe, but replacing the B-pipe will help exhaust flow and give you a little bit more power. Other alternatives to the T1-R are custom setups, and their cost varies on material/shop's price/etc. You can alleviate the raspiness that may accompany an aftermarket B-pipe by using a resonator. It tends to deepen the tone, lessen freeway droning, and remove a lot of that raspy buzzy sound you sometimes hear.

hey man, thanks a lot! you answered my questions!!
hows your setup going? does it sound raspy with a stock b pipe?
i think i might just get a custom mandrel bent stainless b-pipe
similar to T1R's
thank you daniel,
i appreciate you help

Re: SPOON N1 setup questions (S i R)
With the stock B-pipe, mine sounds really good. Very deep for a Civic exhaust. In regular driving, the volume isn't too noticeable, but when you get on the throttle, it becomes pretty loud. And this is with the stock B-pipe and its fatty fatty resonator. I'm really pleased with it--perfect fit, great quality, awesome sound. I finally found a shop that does custom piping with custom flanges, so I might go there one day to have them make me a B-pipe; they do mandrel bending, too, which rocks. But I've been too lazy to make the drive. They're like an hour away from me.

Re: SPOON N1 setup questions (Daniel)
hmm sounds nice, i can get a Spoon N1 at a good price, so i may be keen on one.
Are you running any headers? or just stock?
Do you reckon a custom b-pipe to the same specifications as the T1-R will result in the same sound or near the same sound?

Re: SPOON N1 setup questions (S i R)
Yeah, I run an A'PEXi GT header. Most of the stuff I have on my car isn't for performance but for necessity; I had a turbo but then removed that setup, so I just needed stuff to replace the turbo manifold, downpipe, etc. So I bought the header since it was cheap and I needed one, anyway. But yeah, I reckon that if the specs of your B-pipe are made to T1-R's, it will provide comparable sound. That's awesome if you can get a deal on the N1. These bastards are so damn expensive for just a rear-section exhaust.

Re: (S i R)
I just added the T1R bpipe to my exhaust setup.
Previously it was spoon N1 with a 60mm RS*R bpipe, carsound cat, and DC JDM header.
Now its spoon N1 with a 63mm T1R bpipe, test pipe, and DC JDM header.
I havent really had a change to get out and do any WOT pulls, but the low throttle tone is quieter than it was. I'm not sure how much the test pipe plays into this though.

No clue, man! When I received it in the mail, I only inspected it for damage and then installed it. I wasn't worried about performance gains or anything, just that it would work okay.

Re: (S i R)
The resonator, you mean? Its internal diameter is the same as the piping, which is 63mm. However, the resonator acts like a small muffler in that it ... well ... muffles sound. That's basically all it is. But the diameter that the exhaust gas travels through will be the same as the piping.

I run a spoon n1 on my jdm gsr motor. I have it paired right now with the skunk2 b-pipe for a ctr. It's about 60mm, and it's probably the same b-pipe as the system for the 99-00 si's.
Back when I had it paired with the stock Si b-pipe, it was deep and smooth, very smooth. No raspiness at all. When i put on the skunk2 b-pipe, it became even louder and deeper, but still no raspiness. Power was definately better with the aftermarket b-pipe.

Spoon n1 + skunk2 ctr b-pipe
there's a clip of my car. You can hear on startup a slight clicking, that is from my exhaust hanger hitting my car.

as long as its not rusted to hell or dented up it should be fine.

are the b-pipes on USDM (lhd) the same side as JDM vehicles i.e rhd civics?</TD></TR></TABLE>
When you say the same do you mean the actual diameter of the pipe or the bends being different due to lhr/rhd?
The diameters of the actual piping should be the same. The actual bends should be the same also but the flanges might be different. I have seen some jdm exhaust/headers come with different flanges than usdm.
Hope that helps
