Installing Springs
what springs are you putting on the struts?
You can probably shoot the stock springs off, and the lowering springs should probably go on without needing compression. My 2.5" drop skunk2's fit right on the strut with no compressing, just slip on, tightened it up.

I have H&R Sport Springs on my Koni Yellows right now. I'm getting some GC sleeves.
So should I just remove the shock and strut assembl and remove the two jam nuts. Will the spring go shooting out, or do I need a spring compressor.
In the picture above, it seems like you can loosen the two jam nuts and the spring won't be able to shoot out. Then you take out everything.

i don't even know if its possible to remove a spring from the strut without using a compressor. when i took mine off, the spring shot off, even with the compressor tightened on it...

It may work, but I wouldnt trust that technique. you could accidently tear an axle boot or brake line if you not thorough before undoing that tension nut.
Its not much harder to remove the last 2 strut tower nuts and doo all this outside the car.... just point the spring away from you while undoing tension nut.....'
It may work, but I'll stick to the regular way

i think you should be ok, aftermarket springs don't need to be compressed when u take them off. When i went to my H&R race springs from eibach prokits, i didin't need a compressor. It never popped, well only a tiny tiny bit. Just have a friend put some weight on the spring when u take off the two bolts so that the bolts wont be flying at ya when u take it off. Good luck

no kidding. i was just about to mention that.
i love risking my safety when i can rent the correct tool for FREE.

if you already have lowering springs they DO NOT need to be compressed. i just took my H&R Sports off last weekend for some GC Coilovers and they DID NOT need to be compressed. the GC coilovers WILL NOT need to be compressed either.
Yup that way will work. You leave the car on the ground, undo the shock shaft nut then jack of the car slowly and the sping will become uncompressed.
However the shock assembly is now taller and will be more difficult to manouver out of the car, you're gonna spend tons of time trying to get it out. I definitely recommend doing the old fashion way.
