Reconditioned Rods?
whats up. well i went by the local machine shop to let them know that im gonna want them to install a set or ARP rod bolts and press out my old LS pistons and press in a set of P30. the owner of the shop said that i should get my rods reconditioned so im like sure why not. now the thing i wanna know, when they recondition the rods, what do they do? they just make sure the rods r not ovaled when they press in the new rod bolts right? does reconditioning mean that the rods will be shot peened as well? i 4got to ask the dude about that.
well is this a fair price for everything: press out old pistons, press in new ones, press out old rod bolts and press in new arp rod bolt, and have the rods reconditioned for $150? oh yea, and im get n these things back the same day. gonna rip apart the motor at my friends shop early in the morning, remove the psitons/rods, take em over to the machine shop like around 12 noon, get them back hoepfully by 5 ish, and build the motor back. look n to be done by around 9 pm. cant have down time on my car

when they recondition a rod, that means honing the big and small end to ensure that they are round and not tapered. as far as i know most machine shops wont shot pean the rods, when they recondition them, they might mill the the rod caps to get better bearing crush
