B18c Apexi Power FC Help
Ok I just bought a Apexi Power Fc and the fc commander. I have
1995 B18c
ITR Pistons and rods
Jun 3 Cams and cam gears
Jun Springs
Titanium retainers
Skunk 2 intake manifold
Aem Type R intake
65mm Throttle Body
Rc 440 injectors
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Aem Fuel rail and pressure Regulator
Vibrant Header
Skunk 2 Exhaust
Well I just installed the Apexi Power FC today and i let it do the self adjustment like i'm supposed to (10 minutes with just idle then 10 minutes with the rear defroster i have no A/C) I then reved my engine and my check engine light was flashing the code for detnating at about 3,000 rpms and the car idles terrible (sounds like a mustang). I know its not my injectors because i put my stock p72 ecu back in and it idled fine and threre was no check engine light from the stock ecu. I know that I need to do tuning but I should be able to rev the engine past 2,500 rpms with out the warning. I adjusted some of the ignition and fuel settings but to no change so i put them back to the factory apex base map. I really dont know where to start so if anyone could point me in the right direction besides going to a power excel dealer because they are about 100000 miles away.

haha...
Let me guess, you bought a USDM Power FC and commander for cheap which says B16B Civic Type R on the Box right?
I had that in my car, 96 GSR w/ Skunk2 manifold and ITR TB, ran shitty as well, and the check engine light would flash like you said idicating detonation. Plus when I would rev it on the street it seems like it would bogg...
What I did was up the fuel injector duty, which helped somewhat, but to tell you the truth, that B16B Civic Type R MAP sucked....
Another thing, it is actually set for JDM cars which run higher octane fuel and US cars, you probably need to retard the timing or something.
Anyway to make a long story short I got rid of it, and bought a JDM DC2R B18C PowerFC imported from Japan for a few hundred more than what I paid for the USDM one.
Now this B18C Map runs perfect on my GSR no flashing CEL.
Advice to you, find someone who knows how to tune it, otherwise, dump it and get Hondata or try to find a JDM B18C DC2R PowerFC.

Man your exactly right this sucks!
When I turn it on my FC Commander shows right on the screen B16B.
Well after driving it I found out it flashes the CEL at 2500, 3500, and 4500.
I am emailing the guy I got this from and asking him whats up. I probably will end up selling it and getting myself an AEM.

I've got the usdm power fc and commander on my turbo gs-r teg with 750cc injectors, and it idles great and no detonation, just try and find someone to tune it on the dyno, or buy the dataloggit software and do it yourself, saves a bunch of time. I really like the fc now that I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Chipped P28 Running Uberdata or Crome is good too. Just make sure you get yourself some AT29C256 chips and a chip burner and you're good.
You can have all of this for around 300 bucks which is a deal compared to a powerFC or AEM.

Hey
for anyone that still may be intrested in helping me out I posted a video of what my car is doing maybe it will help me get a couple more answers.
I did some simple editing to show when the CEL is flashing.

I see what's going on.... your millisecond time delay is off so it doesn't know what injectors its using. It's staying lean until that has been changed. The Power FC isn't going to show CELs in the same way that your stock ECU does, so don't think by that logic. What is the setup you are using in terms of fuel and injection?
