Default dpfi to mpfi?

hey all.. I got a 90 civic ex but the body is in bad shape. I'm thinking about getting a 88 DX 4 door that has a better body. But want to swap the mpfi stuff to the dx. But also want to swap the dpfi stuff to the ex so i can turn around and resell it for like 200$ or something. I plan to swithc the trannys and everything over. Do i need a conversion harness or something? Can I just swap the firewall to ecu harness from car to car? or do i have to get a rewiring kit or something?

you will need to repin/rewire the dizzy and ecu and injectors. do a search on mpfi and you will see several how-tos on it.

Lots of wiring that you'll probably have to do within the engine bay, soddering all that **** aint easy , but definately worth it

you cant just swap the whole harness ecu to engine over? why hasn't anyone done this... Rewiring is easy.. I've rewired 1/2 a mkiii turbo harness, and am in the middle of extending my 1jz harness 18" so itll work with lhd..

We can do both conversions for you, EX to DX is fine.

Think of the EX to DX this way, for a DPFI to MPFI we would add 4 wires, so for the reversed swap, you want to pin the distributor without the Cylinder position wires, and the injectors without 2.
For the injectors you would make pins A1 and A3, tie together at the ECU (Primary Inj) and for pins A5 and A7 do the same. (Secondarys)
Now i would take the pins from A3 and A7 and tape them off for later use basically.
At the injectors its a little tricky, we would put the DX plugs on it so it's plug and play. Also tape off the extra distributor wires for later use.
There are ECU pins at B and C plug that need to be moved around.
Take the MPFI directions and read them backwards

We can do the MPFI to DPFI for $100, it won't be much work.

If you are going to have the 90EX and the 88DX sitting around why not move EVERYTHING over, I.E. Engine, Drivetrain, Suspension, Interior/Engine Harness, Dash, it'll be like you never left the EX.

You can swap the harnesses as long as you swap everything. By that I mean the engine harness and all of the interior harnesses.

Are the interior harnesses different for ex and dx? Like the dash harness/ fuse box harness and what not? how many would I have to change?

They are different if the year changed... 88 and 90 are different controls

after you get the dash out it's not that bad it's just taking everthing out that's a pain in the ***! If you can swap the motor and trans, then you can do this.

Have fun!
