DA 2ng gen and DC2 3rd gen Front brake caliper differences
I got a set of calipers from a 1988 Honda Accord LX-i which are the same as those from a 1990 Acura Legend and those of a 90-93 Integra. The calipers DO mount on a 99-00 Si knuckle, just like 94-01 Integra calipers would. They are however not identica and take different pads. They do mount with the pads and knuckle on tho, and I believe I can use on my 96 LX with the SiR knuckles, DA calipers, and 96-00 EX rotors. My question is, after the mounting points, the 57mm bore piston that the DA and DC calipers share, is there a difference in braking? is one stronger than the other? I know the DA uses a pad spring, and that the DC2's side retainer springs for the pads are a little different shaped. They look to take the same brake line fitting as Ive fitted the one from a 99 SiR on these calipers. Anyone know the difference in power? like someone with a DA with DC calipers, or vice versa?

The calipers themselves are the same or very similar. The DC2 bracket lets you use the larger and more available DC2 pads.

the DC2 pads are more expensive may I point out though. most say go with the caliper to choose pads, but your right, the shape depends on the caliper bracket, since the caliper simply grabs and uses a circular piston

it seems the DA and DC have a close to similar caliper, but the mounting brackets are different, which use the same mounting points to a knuckle, but different retainer sprinfs and shape, thus allowing larget brake pads.

Verified.
Brake pads are NOT dependant on calipers. They are dependant on the CALIPER MOUNT BRACKET. This dictates the shape of the brake pad you buy.

bump from the dead to finalize my own question.
Both DA (90-93) and DC (94-01 not R) calipers are stamped 17CL14VN. Both take a 57mm piston, the DC takes a larger brake pad. The brackets are not the same, calipers do not bolt onto the other bracket (DA caliper body on a DC bracket does not fit).
