Default turbo sohc or go b16?

a few months ago the stock engine in my si blew, i bought the replacement which was the same (jdm zc 1.6 sohc) so it has about 50000 and running perfectly.
however it is a very slow engine, after looking throughout the pages on ht, i came up with two ideas, turbo this engine or go b16.
How many hp can i get on the sohc with stock internals after its turboed? and whats the highest the boost can go w/o blowing the engine?
i will have about 2k and am unsure about what to do.. help!!!

2k might not get you a b16. If you get good deals, it will, but usually 2.5k will get you a b16a. So much vote would have gone to the turbo anyway. Check out hmt, they will be able to answer all of your questions, and check the FI forum.

I would say 6-8 psi. DON'T GO HIGHER than that on stock fuel management and stock internals.

H-Motors is selling full B16 changeovers for $1499 plus S&H. I've got a B16 in my Hatch and I really like it.

Im not sure about the zc motors but the si motor is usually safe to 200hp on stock internals, u will need bigger injectors and very good tuning on uberdata/turboedit. i got my whole turbo setup for 1k shipped. it was a used greddy kit for a 92-95 civic, with starion intercooler, hks ssq bov, all the piping and couplers, vortech fmu (gonna ditch this for turboedit when i can get tuned) vdo boost gauge, hks turbo timer. this was an awesome package deal on ebay and i dont know if u can find a deal like this but if u have 2k ready for a b16 u could easily use that money to buy rods, pistons, and peice together a great turbo kit for your zc motor. plus its always fun to roll on b16's with a turbo d!

so with stock internals the 1.6 sohc can hold up to 8psi withouth the risk of blowing up? if i know that if i decide to go turbo i will have to do some upgrades to the fuel system.
Im not looking to have the fastest car around, i just want it to be faster and i would hate to get rid of the low mile engine i already have thats why im considering this option

the stock si motor (d16a6) and the sohc zc are pretty much the same. evidently, the sohc zc has a slightly more agressive cam, but i believe that's about it. supposedly it has 118hp as opposed to the d16a6 with 108 (not whp by the way).

...honestly, i cannot tell the difference between my crx with a sohc zc and my friend's crx with the stock d16a6.

the differences between the two are for the most part, debatable...

yeah go Turbo D series. best project i've done in my life. you wont be dissapointed and mine rips the **** out of B16s! B16 has more possibilites and is a good base, but when you're boosted it doesn't matter, and you'll save a grip over a b16 swap as well.
