Default SAFE TO START AND IDLE?

Okay I just replaced a head gasket on my 93 EG, and I put everything back together, set the timing, oil filter, oil, and all plugs connected. Problem is I don't have a torque wrench, my friend does, but he's gone til Tuesday. Being that it is Easter I cannot buy one anywhere. If I snug the head bolts down with a ratchet, can I start it and let it warm up to see if it doesn't overheat? Thanks, Bob.

Nope, head needs to be torqued down to spec.

You just went through all this work to replace the headgasket. Why do you want to risk messing it up and having to do everything one more time???]

Just wait.

Yea definatly. Some of those bolts are only like 9ftlbs. No way you will be able to tell that by hand.

If you wanted to get it done, you should have had the proper tools on hand in the first place.

Sears is open until 6 on the west coast. I know this because I just got off work from there. You could try them for a torque wrench.
