Default Installed Omni Full Coilovers today.....need some helpful advice.

Well I finally got around to installing my coilovers today, have been waiting for some time now so I could install my 18" Volks on my 00 Si. I followed the directions, did the preloading properly and the front two were perfectly even about two fingers gap which is good for now to prevent rubbing. The rear is where the problem lies, with the lower collar fully extended it is much shorter than stock and even my old KYB/Prokits I adjusted the rear height and with the passenger side coilover the bottom mount is only screwed on about 5-6 turns from being completely screwed off and I have only a 1 finger gap, the driverside rear is only 3-4 turns from being completely screwed off and is barely a fingers gap which is causing a little rubbing with the 18's. Is there anything anyone can suggest?

I am also hearing little sqeaks is this just because of the billet upper mounts? I have everything torqued to the suggest Ft. lbs and all four were preloaded after moving the car around to make sure the height was close to the desired drop.

Thanks!

there is your problem. 18's are just too big. you cant get a tire thats short enough to equal stock(ish) circumference. the only thing i could suggest is ge a taller spring for the rear. that would give you more height and fix your problem.

Yeah but I am more concerned as to why the rear two coilovers have only a one finger gap when they are almost fully extended on the side that is too low 3 more turns and the bottom mount would fall off.

Other Omnipower owners have noted the same problem, and the cause is the rear lower mounts being too short to provide a suitable adjustment range. The fix is longer lower mounts, which I believe they have now.

Thanks I knew there had to be something the front mounts can turn on the shock about 40 times where as the back mounts were more like 20 possible turns. Hopefully I will be able to get it taken care of..... Anyone have more info on the longer rear mounts.

Thanks again, I talked with Kteller and will be calling Omni this week. As for everyone who seems to think the 18" wheels are the problem, that isn't it. I am using the stock 15's for now and the back fully raised as high as it wil go is no more than an inch gap.

Update, Spoke with Steve (omniman) and he is sending me some longer rear shocks so I can have the proper height adjustment with the 18" wheels. OmniPower not only offers great products/prices but they care about their customers and are willing to help!

Update: 18's are sold, and the longer shocks didn't really solve the problem as they had to be fully lowered to achieve the same height as the original shocks that were fully raised. I just received the longer rear bottom collars and they provide almost an inch more of height adjustment and with them on everything seems to be good.

Here are some pics to show the new collars compared to the old ones!
