Is composite brake pads gonna give more dust/noise?
I'm looking at tirerack.com at the Satisfied GranSport 5 brake pads. Problem is i see a warning at the top of the screen stating:
NOTE: Ceramic pad material is recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and may have been supplied as Original Equipment. Replacing ceramic brake pads with pads of any other material may result in more brake dust or increased brake-related noise than originally installed pads.
Is this always true? Anyone hear anything about the gransport 5 brake pads or the hawk hp plus rrace brake pads? I went into the autocross section to find those two.
Also, race spec stuff usually has its downside when street driven, but is there a downside with brake pads?

I ran cheapo brake pads from schucks for 20 bucks on 3 cars that i used before. no problem with stopping, no noises, etc. my last one is lasting me for 3 years and still have about 40% of the pads left, i guess if your running a strong motor its better off to get some better pads, my civic only has a sohc and some bolt ons, so i dont need that much of a stopping power.
Hawk Pads are the Best, you can get them at your local Pepboy dealer or http://www.tirerack.com
Anyways, I have the Hawk HP Plus, and boy do they squeek and dust a **** load. But they can stop on a dime....
Hawk HPS are also great for street driving and stop better than most pads.
If you want some pads with low dust, get some OEM Honda.

If your just running the street with an occasional autoX or track day, I'd stay away from the plus, and go with the HPS. I've been running them for a year now, and they have plenty of bite. The plus are more than you need, are noisy and dust pretty bad.

Unless your going to Auto X, I would recommend getting Hawk HPS not the Plus.
Hawk Plus are going to wear out your rotor faster than non agressive pads.
Just go to Autozone and get some cheap *** rotors, I Auto X about 3-4 a year so I can't afford getting major brand rotors.
Street = Hawk HPS
Auto X/Agressive Street = Hawk Plus
