to check the codes on a 5th gen lude,
take out the little carpet panel on the center consol right next to the gas pedal,

there should be a little connector there (blue i think)

just throw a paper clip in there and read the codes,

long flash = 10

short flash =1

hope this helps

OK A 5th gen has the connector/port is under a cover on the righthand side of the console. You will see it is covered in carpet and simply pulls off. In there are 2 connectors-one is the OBD-II connector and the other is for the jumper. That is where you need to be to pull the codes. A code scanner would be a very good thing to use. Dealers charge ~$80 for this test, btw.

ok i went to one of those links at the top and it helped but what if my CEL goes on but then when i turn my engine off then back on it goes away then a couple days later it goes on and the same thing happens. Its only goes on like 3 times a month or so.

How do I check the code if it keeps going off?

EDIT - i have a 4th gen
