Coolant issues: (just when I think I'm dept free)
Today, when I was driving to work, my air smelled very sweet. While driving I really didn't think too much of it though since the car was running cool and strong. Well, when I arrived at work, I decided to pop the hood and check things out just for the hell of it. What do I find?? Coolant around the top rim of the radiator as well as on a few other parts near the radiator.
I haven't had much time to really assess the issue but I thought I'd throw in a random rant just to see what you guys thought.
Another interesting thing is that for about the past 8 months I have been throwing a CEL for my secondary 02 sensor. Today, the light went out
Coincidence??
Who know?
All I know is that this will cost money
Damn Bitch always wants money from me
She's worth it though

Really...Thats not bad........where do you find one for $100?? I thought they were like $400 for an OEM one which is more than a fluidyne.

I wouldn't get another OEM. It's just not worth the $$, because there's a good chance you'll go through the same thing again. You can get aluminum ones for around $200. If I were you, I'd just go to a radiator shop and have them put a generic one in. It'll work fine, unless you require a bigger/better radiator. And most shops have quoted anywhere from $100-150.

True but my Arr has been so good to me. Up until now the only repairs I have had to do were general maintenance or something that was my fault

I am just curious, what kind of radiator cap do you use? I had the same issues and just got another OEM one.

Mugen Caps and other high pressure caps will increase the pressure of the radiator thus causing it to crack sooner with age of the radiator of course.

I was wondering about that
I used to use a spoon rad cap. then that's when it happened. My friend bought me a mugen cap for my b-day as well. guess they will be nice pieces to display instead

thats why i never understood why you would want a higher pressure cap? are you overheating with the oem cap? i doubt it...anyway i would suggest NOT to buy an aftermarket radiator. i fell for the $99 special at radiator.com for my accord. it lasted all of 3 years. the entire radiator was rusted out inside. when i drained it all you saw was rust.
interesting. I wonder if that alum radiator was a "koyo" or if it was some other brand. I thought i heard radiators.com sold koyo alum ones too which seem nice but I dunno. I bought OEM so i am okay.

I would just go to http://www.radiatorbarn.com and order an all-metal OEM replacement. Its cheaper and you dont have to worry about the plastic endtanks falling apart
