ok i just put a z6 in my lx and for some reason the timing belt keeps trying to slide off and i know that it is because the cover is not on the motor so i can watch will trying to start the car and i does it imediatlly as i try to start the car and would come off if i did start it..so does anyone have a clue why its trying to come off
i bet you either didnt set the tensioner correctly or the tensioner spring is worn out and needs to be pulled on while tensioned down.

wat is this retainer i dont know if its on there or not i didnt ever take the belt off i just put the motor in and it started doing this tell me wat to look for..
it's a little ring that goes down at the bottom of the motor where the gear and crank pully slide on at, first goes the gear, then the retainer, then the belt cover, then the crank pully. hope this helps, you may be able to find a diagram in the haynes/chilton etc. book
Yeah, Remove the lower belt cover and there should be this washer looking thingy with little slots that go around in a circle. It is about 2 to 2.5 inches around and about 2mm thick. If you do not see it, check to see if it was put on behind the belt. If it is not there you will need to go to Honda and purchase one. It will not stay on without this. You could leave the covers off and have this on and it would not come off( I do not recommend leaving them off though). I usually put this on then the crank pulley. Then start the engine just to double check that timing is right before putting all the covers back on.
