Default clutch or tranny

I posted yesterday about a possible tranny swap on my 88 crx. I bought a 91 crx si and the motor is great but it won't move. It starts up and everything but when you put it in gear it won't budge. It goes into gear fine, but I can let the clutch out of every gear and the thing won't even stall. Also the higher the gear I put it in the louder this clicking noise gets, almost sounds as if the clutch disc is trying to hold on. Searched and said it could be both, but I'm at a lost as of what to do.

you think it's the clutch? I hope so i'll have to send back the clutch assembly for the 88 and get one for the 91

Does your speedometer move? Only reason why I ask is because I blow a differential out of one and the speedometer would be working while I was not moving.

I'm pretty sure that the clutches are different from a dx to si are you using the si clutch or the dx/hf clutch?

No, that is not correct, ed clutches are only different by year. For example... the 88 clutch disc has a different number of splines than the 89-91. The 88 and 89 clutches are smaller than the 90-91 clutches.

Back to the original post....I feel that it is your clutch as well because when I blew my first J1 trans it wouldn't go into gear.

Could be the incorrect clutch disc. A broken differential will also yield the same results.
