92 GSR, Fan never comes on but i never Overheat...
Symptoms:
-The temp needle never goes above 1/3, I've never seen it at 1/2 for that matter.
-The top radiator hose is pretty hot and the bottom one seems much colder.
-I've never heard or seen the fan come on.
-The car has never overheated for as long as i have had it which has been since 2003.
I took out the AC, and I'm running a Del Sol SI VTEC rad. (took make room for that back door FMIC i hope to have one day
)
I really like it warm in the car so i always have the heat on, i don't know if this has anything to do with anything.
The car has 140,xxx miles on it and when i bought it, it had 113,xxx miles on it.
I keep up maintenance pretty well but I've never changed the thermostat or water pump. I've changed the anti-freeze twice already.
My main concern is that i don't want to do any unnecessary harm to the motor. Any idea's or sugestions are greatly appreciated.

With your heat on, that will turn on the heater fan, which in turn keeps the engine temperature down when you are idling. Have you ever noticed your fan turn on when the car is turned off? Mine does that. It never turns on when the car is on...but it can turn on after the car is turned off...sometimes even when the engine has been off for a few hours.

Yeah...I think it's just a weird thing that my car does. lol
But remember, with the heat on, the car will not overheat. Sometimes I have to turn the heat on (on a hot summer day) if I've been sitting in traffic too long (engine starts to get hotter). Once I turn the heat on, the engine temperature will start to go back down to normal.
