A while back I had my car switched from automatic to 5speed. About a day later my horn quit working and my SRS light stayed lit up. Also i noticed my cruise control doesnt work. Most things point to the clock spring in the steering wheel being broken. However, would switching to a 5speed from an auto make my cruise control not work?

the systems may be different, do you hear any abnornal noises when you turn the wheel coming from the column area?

 

havent noticed any weird noises from the wheel or column

 

A bad clock spring would also cause the cruise control to malfunction. The cruise control actually shares wires with the horn in the clockspring.

 

this happened to my car too but not from an auto to manual. one day the horn and cruise control stopped working and the srs light went off. and i cant find anything on this.
