Any suggestions?
I cannot figure out what might be wrong. The engine of a 92 hatchback (SOHC vtec) is starting but the alternator and power steering belts will not turn, and from the top of the engine is a horrible ticking or clanking sounds. It can closely be described as a muffler vibrating really bad. The vibration is also carried throughout the engine to the stick shift. The belts are not sqeeking from not turning. No check engine light has come on. I have not idea what is wrong. I'm going to test the car out today if I can still move it. Any help would be great.

i wont get too deep into the subject, but from what i've experienced (a snapped timing belt and all 16 bent valves ) that ticking noise is not a good sign. good luck
)..
i dont think the car would start without proper timing, but in my case i was driving when it happened and the inertia from the parts already moving caused all the valves to bend (a horrible knocking/rattling/tapping sound)..

Will the car still start when the timing belt is snapped? Because the car still starts.
