Default When do you need a new fuel filter

Is there any way to tell when you need a new fuel filter?

Oh yeah, and is there any cheap way to get a gauge to tell fuel pressure?

I'm thinking they should be changed around every 75,000 miles.

Doesn't the manual specify every 30K? I thought it did, because that's when I've always changed mine, so there must have been something on the maintenance schedule that would suggest that interval....

You know... as I was posting that, I thought that may be the case as far as the maint. sched goes. But there are a few things that are omitted (power steering fluid, clutch fluid etc.) that need to be checked and maintained; so it may not be in the manual; but I know there is a recommended milage for it somewhere that I looked up. I'll try and find my source.

I replace mine every couple years. But mileage-based maintenance doesn't work so well for me, I had to replace all my belts at 50K because they were pretty damn frayed... I broke 60K about a week before the car hit 8 years...

Go to autozone and get yourself a pressure gauge. Actually, sears may have them too. You can hook one up to the fitting on the fuel filter where the banjo bolt goes.

i thought people normally put them near the rail or the stock fpr... not where the filter is? it doesn't matter?

When your car starts to stuggle, bad gasmileage, or doesnt run smoothly then its usually time to change it. Or, like in my case, you cant remember it ever being changed you might want to do that.
