Default Will this DIY catch can/blow by can set-up work?

I want to attach a catch can (off the pcv valve) and a vent to reduce blow by (it will be connected to breather hole on valve cover, it is what used to be connected to the intake).

I was thinking about connecting the two lines coming from the pcv and the breather vent into one by using a T connection and running this single line to a vented catch can, and running the return line to the intake mani, where the pcv valve would normally go.

Will this work to reduce blow by and keep the oil out of the intake mani or do both rely on vaccum from the motor? I need the vent to relive the crankcase pressure and I don't want to connect it dirtectly to the breather vent due to oil cloging to filter.

I'm thinking the line from the pcv to the intake manifold needs vaccum for the pcv valve to properly work, is this correct?

Yes the pcv needs vacuum from the IM. I'm a little confused by your description but I don't think you can set it up that way as the pcv system is meant to be a one way system, starting at the intake. Air gets sucked into the crankcase via the line from the intake. It then gets removed to the IM via the pcv valve.

So you don't get almost any blowby on the intake side (a little on idle), which is the reason why people usually just put the catch can on the pcv line only. Most people just put a filter on the intake line. I really don't think there is enough oil coming out to clog the filter - at least mine looks fine.

I don't understand what you are trying to achive. If the car is not boosted, keep the crankcase vent hooked up to the intake tube, and put a can inline between the PCV valve and the manifold.

there is still a lot of crankcase pressure at 6000 rpm even if you are not boosted

And thats why he said put it inbetween the PCV and IM...

That's why the can needs to go where I suggested, with all other crankcase items in place. I don't understand your description in your first post, or what you are trying to accomplish. The OEM setup is what you want on an NA car, along with the can installed on the PCV valve hose.

so you guys suggest running the line from the pcv to the catch can, then back to the intake mani.?

what if you run the pcv straight into the catch can and cap/plug the port on the intake mani. where the pcv used to go?

the pcv relies on vacuum pressure to function, so if you cap off the old hole, your filtered pcv line gets no vacuum, so it wont be very effective....

sharks design is the one to go with, i did a very simple setup like that with just some fuel line and a tiny air compresser filter unit....
