Default Question on Modifying ITR Intake Manifold

So I was looking at my ITR intake manifold today and I noticed that big piece that goes down on the bottom that's supposed to bolt the the stock intake manifold support bracket. Of course no one runs that bracket so that whole part of the manifold is pretty much useless.

Do you guys think it would be harmful to the structural integrity/strength of the manifold if I cut that piece off? Just planning to cut off the big part that drops down to bolt to the bracket, then smooth everything out with some sandpaper discs on a die grinder. I've included a couple pic with a line showing pretty much where I want to cut it. Interested in everyone's feedback...

ok I'm gonna do it tonight or tomorrow - I'll post a pic...

thinking about getting the manifold polished, then maybe anodized like a gunmetal color?
