some questions about z6 n stuff
so i can pick up this z6 head for like 50 bucks the only set back is the head has around 200,000 miles on i think. does it matter if it has that much? and it doesnt have a vtec selenoid or ecu.
and once you remove the oil jet on the d15 block and you want to put the original head back on it will you have problems?
any help is appreciated thanks guys

do you know how the head was treated when it was on the car? if it was well maintained then should be ok to stick on your block, but mostly likely it has been abused and should be taken apart and have the valve seals replaced.
If you take the oil jet out and put the stock head back on you will have problems most deff. You stock head doesnt have an oil jet in the head. like the z6 does. (least thats what i have read)

yeah i know i need the ecu n selenoid but its pretty easy to find.. hopefully
i kinda figured it would cause problems with the open oil jet on the stock head.
umm most likely the motor was ran hard
so do you think it is worth it??
thanks for the help

well if u say u can find a solenoid easy and cheap then is say its worth it. i see those heads go for like 150-200 shipped with everyting. not including ecu. thats dizzy too. do u have the dizzy?
well im going to be honest here
this is the first non bolt on thing ive done to any of the cars so im still learning all the stuff i dont know what a dizzy is...
all the guy said is that it doesnt have the vtec selenoid and p28 ecu
how much will getting the valve seals replaced cost? is it pretty easy to do or should i take it to a shop?
thanks again man i appreciate all the help

dizzy is a the distributor. and u need the z6 one, the dx one wont work. or u willhave to fab it up to make it work. and also im not sure how much valve seales would cost to replace. if you could read up on the net about it. and see how hard it is to replace the valve seals. but sence u have that head and are going to replace the valve seals you should just get a good valve job, and get a port and polish on the , just while it is off.

well i mean im going to have aroudn 400 bucks so money isnt THAT much of a problem but i dont want to go allllll out but good valve job sounds like a healthy plan and port n polish might be in the cards as well..
thanks again guys for all the help

Buy the $50.00 head. Take it to the machine shop and get a valve job done and have them install valve seal while they have the valves out. (The valve seals are a bitch to remove). I spent $124.00 to have all the machine work done including seals. With that kind of mileage more than likely the valve seats are pitted. The solenoid is $227.00 list on the east coast new from Honda. I got one from ebay for $44.00 and it works fine. The distributor you can get from ebay brand new for about $150.00 or used for about $60.00. The distributor you have will work but it does not look pretty cause you have to use big *** washers to hold it in place. You will also need a Z6 engine harness or an A6 mpfi harness and an rpm activated switch like MSD or something. Poe is right about the stock head not working when you take the jet out because there will not be enough oil pressure. After spending all this money you know exactly what you have and a pretty much new head. You also need a z6 timing belt. I can not remember the web site but do a search on the web for d1z6 or mini me swap and a site like crx-perf.org or something should come up and they have a whole article on this swap along with pictures and everything you need before you start. Check it out.
hey thanks man yeah i have the belt and the dizzy but i just need the ecu and the selenoid. all that info is very helpful especially about the valve info.
you said i need a z6 harness, are you talking about ecu? or is that somethign completely different?
yeah i already looked up bauleycivics mini me swap and it is very helpful
your guy's help is very appreciated thanks again

z6 harness is the engine wiring harness. It has all the plugs necessary for all sensors, vtec solenoid, and injectors. This will plug directly into the wiring harness on your passenger strut tower.
