Default Exhaust/Header/cat Help: b16 swap into 98 hatch..

Alright...

I need your guys' help. I know i'm going to get referred to search but i've looked through there and there is just too much speculation and it's hard to tell what's true and not true. With that said, here is my situation.

I'm getting a b16 with the stock usdm si header...

Currently, my hatch has a apex world sport exhaust...

The questions at hand are...
if i stick with the usdm header... which cat do i need to bolt it up to my midpipe without modifications?

if i get a cat mocked up/bolted on for the usdm si header...will i be able to go with a jdm 4-1 style header later on down the line without having to do modifications to the midpipe?

any other things i should watch out for?

thanks for all your help gentlemen.

The only issue you'll run into w/using an Si header now, and changing to a JDM header later is, the outlet and flange sizes are different, the Japanese header being larger at 2.5in. You'll need to use have a reducer installed, or a little custom work done to the cat inlet flange, to mate them up properly. Shouldn't cost more than 20 bux at a decent muffler shop, also, you'll need a larger donut gasket, which should be under 20bux.

Oh, I forgot to type that . THe only header length isssues would be if you used a GSR header.

Does your stock motor have the cat in the bay, or under the car?

:tag: someone else chime in, I've never done a swap on a car with the cat up front, only models with under car cats, so I don't know where the exhaust system is flanged up, but I'm guessing a little cut/weld is going to be needed.

You could always have everything from the header back custom done by your friendly neighborhood narSpec.
