dc sports civic d16y8 install on a d16y7 conversion
I put a 96-00 civic ex dc sports header on my 00 civic dx hatch:
Ok everythings going fine with the install everything bolted right up except I had to get a muffler shop chop my exhaust a little. I also have a 00 civic si cat bolted up too.
Done and DONE .... except, my stock downpipe-to-exhaust gasket doesnt fit the dc header-to-cat and they didnt give me a new one to use. BAP import parts sold me one that doesn't work either cuz they're bitches.
Sooooooo I assume that I need to get a new civic ex header-to-cat gasket right? Can someone who has done this tell me a thing or two? Thanks.

I used a gasket from a GSR. Worked like a charm. The outlet on the header is 2.5" I think, or maybe 2.36". But I think that the Civic ones are too small.
I went to an auto parts store and sorted through all the donut gaskets until I found one that fit. Plus I did this before I installed everything.
well there's my problem, i did already install it. That sucks.
Why would they sell a header for a civic that the stock gasket doesnt fit on and not give you a new gasket that actually does work? Bastards
So you say a GSR one huh? Has anyone done anything else? A little help is much needed, Thanks a lot.

You could measure the outside diameter of the header collector and the diameter of the cat flange at its widest. Then go down to the parts store and see which ones measure up.
this is exactly why i tell everyone not to invest in D-series motors. either get a swap, or roll stock. anything else is just a waste of time, money and patience. good luck though.

Because his stock donut will not fit his new setup is a good reason to not invest in a d-series motor? lmao that's got to be the funniest thing I've ever heard. Swapping in a dual-cam motor would require doing the same thing to his stock exhaust.
A boosted D-series will get better numbers than a n/a dual-cam swap for the same money. D-series are definitely not a waste of money.

ur not looking at the bigger picture, forget the donut man, thats nothing, im saying its not worth it overall, so if youre spending any money at all, it might as well be in a swap, and as for the boosted single comment, u just bring it man, gimme a time and place. thats not a threat or anything, but im just saying dont say stuff you cant back. plenty of n/a setups out there that arent even tuned that will rip the hell out of boosted Ds.
