Default No tuning with header and intake?

Is tuning neccesary when installing a new header and a new intake? Or could things be modified greatly with an AFC? Let's say I bought a DC JDM header and AEM CAI, how would you tune without an AFC?

I don't know how to tune without buying an AFC and going to a shop that knows what they're doing. How does one tune without the AFC?

Tuning isnt necesarry but it would be good to get more power out of your setup. If you want to tune without a VAFC i guess you can do some ignition tuning or some other things. About 18 degrees was it? Not quite sure, but HTH

If your aftermarket header has bigger collectors, you`d be fine to do some cam gear tuning... Everytime you change something at the intake or exhaust side you should do cam gear tuning.

Imagine your header/cat/exhaust is a hose you make wider now. You slow down the velocity... The exhaust cam is the tap...

No much you can do with the fuel if you don't have a AFC. Maybe if you have a FPR, you can adjust the fuel pressure a bit. Without any tuning device, all you can do is adjust the ignition timing, change the plug, plug wire and oil. Beside that, there really isn't much you can do.

I agree also you shoudl tune any upgrades. If you dont get an vafc the you should look into a FPR and cm gears.

If you think about, you are spending about 650 at the least, so why not get your moneys worht for a few extra bucks on teh dyno.

good luck

VAFC is good but I will think of going for a Greddy E-Manage or Buddyclub Racing Spec ECU for $300-$400 range. The Greddy and the Buddyclub have WAY better tunability over VAFC plus you can adjust the acceleration pump for more throttle response
