I recently installed an oil pressure gauge in my 96 GSR. After the car runs for a while and has reached normal operating temps, the oil pressure will dip down around 11-12 psi. Is this normal? I heard the lowest should be 15. Is this true?

 

did you check your oil level?

 

Yes my oil level is up to par. But it still idles at that low psi level.

 

maybe something is wrong with your gauge?

 

What is the pressure at 3000 rpms?

 

Don't remember exactly but it's high i think. Ummm....55 maybe 60...

 

I think your ok...

Spec is minimum of 10 PSI @ idle and 50 PSI @ 3000 RPMs

That's where my oil pressure was at Idle (when I had tha gauge installed).

Sounds like you are OK!

 

I wish I had a gauge... i wouldn't have 12 melted valves, 3 spun bearings, and a lot of other serious problems right now.

Actually i looked at it today and it was more like 70psi at 3k rpm. But thanks anyways. Gotta fix the leak in my oil pan, conveniently located over my header. Great
