Default LS/VTEC question

I am in the process of doing the conversion, but I ran into a problem. The VTEC head is from a 95 GSR and the LS is a 96. The throttle cable doesn't seem to work without mods (ie. cutting). Is that the case or is there a cable I can use that I don't have to mod? I tried a GSR throttle cable already and its still too long. The option I'm looking at now is to cut the cable and go to a bike shop to get one of those ends they use on brakes as a stop. Ghetto as hell but its the only thing I could come up with. Does anyone have any suggestions?

couple inches...I'm not near the car right now so I can't get exact. I tried every which way to mount it, including re-routing it. Couldn't get it to work.

well, just FYI, that little thing they use as a "break stop" at the bike shop isn't really that. It's just there to keep the cable from fraying. It's just a piece of metal that's crimped on.

I know...I still have the factory end....I was going to use the end cap to stop the factory piece from sliding off
