If you dont know alot about hydraulics or pnuematics, your best bet is modifying something to work,I know i wouldnt want my grandma to fall a couple of feet because of a faulty design,so unless you have some sort of hydraulic experience,I wouldnt advise building something from scrach.Would this sorta be what your after:

What kind of van? Are you wanting to go in back or side with the lift? If going into back is a option and you have a hitch,Maybe that will work? Mainly how much $ do you want to spend? If you dont want to spend a lot, this may work if its in your budget, maybe make the platform a little bigger, make a ramp maybe, like forklifts use when going into trailors at docks to bridge the gap .I would put the ramp on hinges at grannys feet attached to the platform if I were to do this, when lift gets to even with van floor, granny can give the ramp a little kick with her foot and it'll flip down and she can roll right in/get pushed in. Just an idea to think about because you didnt really give a lot of info on what/how you want to do it.

werd, a lot of people lately seem to get off on re-inventing the wheel. Being a hydraulic guru myself, I would not even think about wasting time trying to fab a lift when I could just order one.
yeah, i was thinking of ordering one since money isn't the issue to me. im paying back my grandma for taking care of me when i was little. any suggestion where i can get them at?
that lift looks pretty dope but i dont know if she will fit. this will be loaded onto a 2002 Nissan Quest.
