Grounding in the cab instead of the engine compartment?

Grounding in the cab instead of the engine compartment?
Is it possible and safe to ground electrical equipment to metal inside the cab instead of the engine compartment? Will there be any negative or different results?

Sure... When stereo shops install amps, they ground them back there as well. Just make sure you ground whatever it is to bare metal (scratch off any paint if necessary).
