Default Tps sensor recalibration?

i think i figured out why my car cuts out then i let off the throttle and let the rpms drop... i was talking to my friend and we decided it sounds like the tps sensor.... i need to recalibrate it. Does anyone know how i can do this?????

Whats the procedure when trying to test the TPS with a meter? I would like to test mine also, but someone told me that it was supposed to be 1.5 in WOT- i had my car in the shop and thats what this guy said. I still have that bogging issue with my car - so we ruled out the TPS....is it different on 4th gens or is this a universal thing?

yes it is .50 closed and 4.5 wot those are only estimates it can be off a little with out any problems ...the bogging is usually tps it was in my case however only japan spec engines have adjustable tps the usdm market they are riveted to the throttle body

Hmm.....so whats the procedure when checking the voltage of the TPS? because i think that may definately be my problem.

You need a voltage meter --- I used my VAFC to measure it ....

you can check for voltage on the signal wire of the TPS or @ the ECM whichever your heart desires. you can also hook up a Scan Tool and check voltage from idle to WOT very helpful.... also other sensors can effect throttle response.

My prelude already had a wire spliced, all i did was turn the car to accessory, connect the ground to ground, the power to the spliced wire on the TPS, and watch the reading while you open the throttle all the way to wide open. it should be a smooth transition all the way to WOT.
You can adjust the TPS by getting using a dremel tool to cut slits into the rivets so you can use a flathead screwdriver to loosen, adjust, then tighten back up.

What other sensors can contribute to the voltage of the TPS? So, if my voltage were to jump numbers from 2.3 - 3.5 - 1.7...etc, should i have the TPS changed or look into other sensors?

Where is the tps sensor on the manifold? or throttle body?

WTF?!, you're telling him where the MAP sensor is.

The TPS is always on the side of the throttle body, hence throttle postion sensor...

Mmmkay, but the EGR would never be on the TB, would it? Always on the intake manifold...

you might want to make sure that the three wires that run to the tps are twisted or missed up in any manner cause if they are they can cause a short which will give you messed up readings .....

firstly, if there is a problem with cutting out, it is not the tps sensor....if it was in bad enough shape to cause a noticeable change in driveability you would have a CEL from it, if not, check other stuff....i think you have an IAC problem....

if your voltage stays at one number while you are increasing voltage, then all of a sudden jumps up to a different reading, you have a flat spot and need a new tps.....

on the us models, even though they are riveted in, you can drill them out, there are threads under there....you even could take a flathead and a BFH and try to knock the head off the rivet, then turn the threaded portion out with pliers, then put in regular screws so you can adjust from now on....

IAC? my car idles and revs fine its just after moving in gear when i let the rpms drop back down the car shuts off, but will start right back up instantly and idle fine? i have no idea what is it? i will try to look at my tps tonight.....

i will try to put screws in there so i can adjust it, is there a way that ads voltage or decreases? like looser is less and tighter is more?

I am yet to check my voltage from my TPS, but when I step on the throttle, it BOGGS all the way up until the higher rpms. After about 4k then its fine i guess, but before that - its doo-doo. It doesn't really have a problem idling...it idles a little under 1k...when its warm....but i don't know what the problem could be...i'll check the tps...
