Default Random stalling, car bucks, engine revs by itself

Pretty damn long...here it goes...

OK damn this isn't the first time this has happened. It just happens out of nowhere. It can be 2 weeks apart, 2 months apart, who knows. In between those, it runs perfectly fine. Currently I got a CEL code 67..I think I got a bad cat, burned out I think.

Its just another normal day (Sunday, March 13th), driving around town, then out of nowhere my car just starts buckin a lil as if IM tapping the gas, the rpm gauge show it too. This time it jumped from about 3,000 to 4,000 by itself. Usually when this happens then I KNOW my car will start acting up again. I was right, when I was slowing down, my rpms just drops straight to zero and it stalls. It'll stall in any gear, clutch pushed all the way in, in neutral, it doesn't even matter. It just does it when IM slowing down to a stop or stopping. Then usually after this, my car will keep stalling after I restart it until I gas it and drive it hard. Most of the time when I start it up and just try to drive normal, it'll just stall again right away. If the light is red, I wait til its green til I start it cuz it'll stall again unless I drive it hard. After all this, the car will run perfect again for who knows how long.

SYMPTOMS LIST:
-random, will run perfect for months at a time
-rpm's go crazy, engine revs by itself causing the car to buck forward as if IM tapping the gas pedal
-sometimes the other way around, rpm drops a lil then car slows a bit as IM tapping the brakes
-will usually stall over and over again until I drive it hard (or at least I think)
-CEL code 67
-one time (some time back in October) I was driving and my rpm gauge bounced from zero to like 4k back to zero then back to whatever rpm's I was at) BUT this has only happened once so it might not be related to this problem. Oh, and the car did not stall, I was going like 50mph, it was just the tach not the engine itself.
-this only happened once also, usually it'll start up instantly after stalling, but this time it would not start unless I was pressing the gas halfway or so

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
I searched and some things people might say it is are:
vacuum leak?..wont it do it all the time though
-bad gas
-clogged cat
-EGR
-some ignition problem(b/c my rpm bounced from 0 to 4k, back to 0, etc) I doubt it though, cuz I had ignition problems and got some stuff fixed and this hasn't happened again
-some map sensor??

MY MODS: nothing really, AEM V2, Apexi WS exhaust

Anybody? Please help, this stupid problem is random and I hate driving the car around knowing it'll happen again, just dot know exactly when. I talked to some mechanic but said he needs to see the problem to know it exactly, impossible though cuz it runs perfect now...at least for now.

my 92 si did that when i had a oil leak, coolant leak, and a burnt clutch. I cant tell you which was the problem though, because i had it all fixed at the same time... but that might be able to help. It actually may be a few different problems. Those all sound like symptoms of different problems =d

my 92 si swapped with 96 h22a1 did that...

we had a bunch of things replaced, and i didnt have a CEL the whole time this car was doing this ****, as it turns out the previous owner cut the CEL light. Thanks douche bag

Anyway, distributor and ecu were replaced, the distrib was from the 96 motor, and after being replaced with an obd I ecu to run to the old ecu, wouldnt work. Ecu was fried i guess from running that distrib? Replaced with p13, replaced o2 sensor, vtec pressure switch (though vtec worked?) and its been solid since

I hated the bucking my car did tho passengers would look over and be like ok dude enough bucking it really hurts

thinking i was pressing gas ;|

Seems hard to diagnose...IM gonna try to do what some of you guys mentioned, check out the EGR, vacuum leaks (but IM not quite sure how to do so) and which ones too, distributor, cap and plugs.

IM still guessing its a fuel related problem? specially because one time I had to keep pressing the gas to keep it alive and just the fact that giving it a lot of gas and driving it hard when it does happen seems to make the problem go away.

check for vacuum leaks witha can of carb cleaner, spray your lines lightly if your idle changes, you know you got a leak.

I just checked today, no leaks....but like I mentioned earlier, if it was vacuum leak..then wont this problem happen all the time?

So far still no solution, driving this car to far places is still scary...and I even consider 20 miles far daymn this sucks...I wanna sell it.
