Default car runs upto 6k+ when started... idle speed controler problem?

basicly i have a d15b7 that was recently put into a delsol. we put a turbo kit and aftermarket intake manifold on the car and removed the emissions. when started, the car instantly revs upto like 6,000 rpm (i shut it down right away) i've gone through everything and can't seem to crack this one.

i've narrowed it down to the idle speed controler. when plugged in the car revs like this. when unpluged the car idles ok but is a little high and a bit lumpy. it seems like for some reason the idle speed controller is getting powered on wide open when it is hooked up and i start the car.

could a wiring issue or faulty ecu be to blame? i've never had this motor running nor had the ecu in a running car before so i am not 100% sure of the condition. i bought both used and assumed both were in good condition. the harness on the car looks like the previous owner did some hacking. i've looked it over fairly well but will be going through it completely tommorow.

is there anything else that would trigger the idle speed controller to open fully? could the idle speed controller be faulty?

any help is greatly appreciated!

check and make sure the throttle cable is not too tight

Yeah, I don't think the Mighty IACV can take it up that high, look for an open throttle condition, with either an obstruction or a tight cable. Also check for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold.

throttle cable is not even hooked up. i'm pretty sure the extra air is coming from the idle control valve.

basicly when i have the idle speed controller electrical connection hooked up it imediatly revs upto 6k+ rpms. when i disconect the plug the car just idles kind of lumpy and a little higher than it should.

i removed the idle speed controller entirely from the intake manifold and pluged the ports. when its plugged in it still revs upto redline imediatly. when unpluged it just has a little higher than normal lumpy idle.

i plugged the inlet in the throttle body for the isc and the car did the same thing. revs when plugged in and doesn't when unplugged.

i've done just about everything from trying out a different idle speed controller to switching the throttle body/map/tps with one from a functioning vehicle. i even hot wired the idle speed controller directly to the ecu, bypassing the engine wiring harness (to eliminate the possibility of shorts). it still does the same thing. i also tryed a different ecu.

what would cause the engine to idle upto redline imediatly after starting? how is it even getting enough air with the isc disconected entirely?

also, do i need coolant lines going through the throttle body and isc? i bypassed both of these when i put everything together to make the installation cleaner.

thanks for all replies! this is really frustrating, hondas are usually so easy to figure out bugs.

check all your gaskets (intake)and see if your FIT valve is working right.
