On the DX the catalytic converter is part of the header/exhaust manifold. Hence, if you buy an aftermarket header you will have to get a cat from an EX, Si, etc. Otherwise you'll run into check engine lights and problems passing smog.

So to answer your question, no.

Does that stock exhaust have the catalytic converter in the header, or is it a seperate piece like the y8 exhaust? If so, get the new header, find a y8 b-pipe and cat, and just re-use your axleback, assuming the DX and EX axleback flanges are in the same spot.

The catalytic converter is part of the header. It's not a separate piece like it is with EX's/Si's. I think it's so the catalytic converter gets hotter and thus converts the gases more efficiently.

We posted at the same time, otherwise I would have read that. I'd guess your most basic options are:

-Get a new header, get either a highflow cat or an EX/SI one, along with the EX/SI b-pipe, and keep your existing axleback.

-Get a new header, new highflow cat or EX/SI one, and a complete new catback exhaust

-Get a header and run w/o a cat (not sure if it will even line up, have no idea where the b-pipe flanges on the DX exhaust are). <-- Dont bother, please, for all of us if it is possible.

Sorry about that...I thought you were asking more questions.

Anyway, Dark96Civic, the man has listed your options for you. Good luck.
