well im getting my sleeved block back from golden eagle this week and i just bought some vitara pistons last night to join the bandwagon..now im starting to second guess myself..i was shooting for 350-400 to the wheels (d16y7)..i would hate to put all this work into the engine and the cut corners on the pistons..does anyone have any high hp apps using the vitara pistons and should i keep them or go with CP or JE like i had planned??? TIA

i wouldn't push the vitara pistons to those extremes but bump for an answer because i am running vitaras in my budget build

To add to the topic i honestly dunno if 350-400whp would be good on them. My guess is NO

IMO unless you want to run 10's you dont need that much hp unless u want a dyno queen... My friend with just 260whp on the vitaras runs a 12.26 on a Y7 motor on a coupe full interior...So for me thats fast enough and well worth it for a cheap piston..

If you want above 325whp i would go forged...unless you want to really find out how much power can the Vitaras hold(Put them in,crank the boost up and let us know).

 

don't put cast pistons in a sleeved block...thats pointless.

 

The real answer is no one knows, like FJT said 260's been made, but they haven't been pushed past that to my knowledge in the states. Personally, I wont be afraiding going to 280-290 on them but I do understand the consequences if they fail. T-3 heat treating IS a strong heat-treating process so they're not your regular cast pistons. It's better than paying 350-400 for a set of forged if you break them...

If you have a sleeved motor go forged.

well im aiming for 300 whp and ill let you all know if they blow up or not, LOL. if they do however it will most likely to do with a bad tune then a bad piston choice.

Most of the time that's a case..we'll find out at what point these things will start failing once we see some holes in the block
