i would say gsr. LS trannt is too long. B16 tranny is way to short for boost IMO....

The B16 tranny will offer the fastest acceleration, but will hurt MPG and will offer a relatively low top speed as compared to the other tranny's. The LS tranny will offer the slowest acceleration, but will also give the best MPG and the highest top speed. The GSR tranny is in the middle of the two.

Personally, I'd run the B16, it won't hurt the MPG bad enough for most people to care, and you really don't need to be top speed testing it on public roads.

honda's are more engine load dependant when it comes to MPG rather than engine speed dependant. this is true for almost any fuel injected car. the reason cars used to waste more gas when turning higher rpms was because more vacuum was applied to the fuel ports in the carb. this pulled more fuel from the bowl and inturn used more gas (since you have highest vacuum at cruise because of piston speed and low throttle.) now days (especially in hondas) the ecu cuts fuel back so hard at low throttle input its not even funny. honda's will actually cut fuel if the throttle closes, for fuel economy.

so, in short, dont worry about what muscle car guys say about mpg because of turning higher engine speeds while cruising.

i get 32mpg w/ my S1, which is a whole lot crazier of a 5th gear than an s80 b16/ITR. i cruise at 4000rpm @ 65 and about 4500 @ about 73mph, 5000 = 79mph for me

what are you talking about? way to short for boost? shorter gearing = more acceleration, but less top end. it doesn't matter whether you are boosted or what. theres a myth about longer gears (like the LS tranny) holding you in peak boost for longer, but doesn't that say something, you're in a gear for longer which means you are accelerating slower. the only thing that does get in your way about shorter gears is the traction factor. with more reduction you do multiply torque more times. you could get into traction problems, but theres so many variables involved.

just remember, theres plenty of variables involved. the theory of torque multiplication does basically state that a shorter gear will accelerate quicker because there is more multiplication of engine torque.

if it were me, i would probably go with the gsr tranny. i drove and rode in my friends turbo integra with a b16 transmission....i guess the best way for me to describe it is like this....say 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 as fast as you can, and that's what it was like going through the gears. lol if you can deal with that, go ahead and rock the b16, otherwise, get the gsr.

the LS trans doesn't exist to me....die, POS....

Look for an ITR tranny, comes stock with an LSD. The gearing is a little different, something about the final drive gear(?) Do a search about it. I have read a few thredas about it but i dont really understand the whole tranny thing
