p28 on y8?
The P28 is the correct ECU for this, but assuming you have an EF or a CRX, you will have to covert from OBD0-OBD1... you can get a harness from Blown90hatcH on this board as weel as others. You will also need to use an OBD1 dist and the appropriate 4 wire O2 sensor.
i thought p28 is from a d16z6. yes i have a crx so im plannin on converting it. how much r the harnesses? i think ill probably just do it myself, i got the plugs. cant be that hard right? a couple wires? its already got mpfi. can i use my A6 intake mani on the y8 head?
P28 is the OBD1 ECU for a SOHC VTEC motor. It was originally used for the D16z6 as you noted. Most consider it to be the best choice for a mini-me since it's a performance ECU, that has all the correct VTEC functions. The conversion harness will run you about $110, which I think is a bargain compared to making your own. The plugs on the OBD0 vs. OBD1 ECU's are all different. Blown90hatch's website is:

As far as the intake manifold goes I think so, but I'm not sure. The Y8 manifold is supposed to be the better performing manifold fro a d-series.

Yes, the A6 intake manifold will bolt up to the Y8 head with no problems - however it will be a little restrictive compared to the Z6 or Y8 manifolds..
OBD-1 conversions are pretty simple to begin with, but it's very easy to run into problems. Make sure you have done plenty of research before you begin, and I'd highly recommend access to a HELMS manual!!!
Essentially this is what you're doing with OBD-1....
1 - Adding a "jumper" harness so that the OBD1 ECU can plug into your exhisting wire harness.
2 - Swap the A6 distributor with an OBD1 or OBD2 dizzy (both will work). The plugs will be different so you can either repin or solder in new plugs - wiring here can vary depending on which conversion harness you decide to go with.
3 - 4 wire Oxygen sensor. The p28 ECU is set up for a heated (4wire) O2 sensor. You'll have to add 3 more wires for the new sensor, your conversion harness should include instructions on how to do this.
4 - Add VTEC wiring, and VTEC PRESSURE sensor wiring. This is really simple to do.
5 - Change your CEL wiring (very simple). OBD-1 vehicles aren't equipped with a flashing LED on the ECU, instead when the CEL light comes on, you add a jumper into a certain harness point, and the CEL flashes giving you the code.
6 - (OPTIONAL) Switch to saturated fuel injectors by re-routing the power to go directly to the injectors instead of running through the resistor box.
^^^ Step 6 has no benefits over sticking with your original Peak & Hold style injectors. Honestly, it's a waste of time and effort IMO.
One other thing to keep in mind is that the P28 ECU was designed for the D16Z6 motor, the Z6 cam has a noticeably different profile than the Y8 cam along with the Y8's significantly different intake port design. This results in two different motors that have notable differences in their power band. The P28 will definitely work with the Y8 head, but not to its best potential. One of the biggest draw backs of using the P28 ECU on a Y8 is the VTEC x-over is going to be too early, resulting in a drop in power from about 4.8k to 5.4k - but this can easily be fixed with the addition of a VAFC, a ROM editor setup, Hondata etc etc.
There are plenty of options to go with a conversion harness, most of which are really good. You can also wire it all up yourself without the jumper harness, but it's very time consuming and even more things can go wrong - remember that your wiring is over 15 years old right now, even if you're really good at wiring/soldering there are some things that you just can't get around.

hey thanks for the info. im thinking of just getting a first gen b16 ecu, i think its..pr3? cause the way i figure it, because im ona budget, id have to do the wiring and then buy an obd1 dizzy, and for 100 bucks i can get the b16 ecu and it would just plug and play..right? or so ive heard.
