Default top strut bolt came off

So I have had a set of KYB AGXs installed for a few weeks now. I had someone else do it for me becasue I was busy and my mom offered to pay. Recently since the install I have noticed a clicking noise at times around the front drivers side wheel(going over bumps etc) Then yesterday as I was coming home and i heard this loud noise and something coming off and going out the back of the car. My car felt ok and i stopped and took a quick look before carefully drivng the rest of the way home. When I got home i poped the hood and the bolt and washer that held the strut in place were gone. Im assuming that it was to loose and that was why the shock was clicking? Are the isntallers to blame? i found this

that said the bolt needs to be torqued down to 22 lb-ft, did they not torque it down enough? is the car driveable?

cool thanks, also i have experienced some squeking with my front suspension in cold weather over bumps, i have done some searching and i think that it is the lower ball joints, but am not sure. does anyone know if this is it? if so are they hard to replace?
