http://www.jdmuniverse.com/for....html Go their its a big debate on CTR vs. ITR cams, but it really depends on if u want a nice quick daily driver or a high idling race car... They tell you to go with the stage 1-3 cams because their not much more, but once u do that obviously you either need hondata or tune ur fuel with something else and your valve train needs to be upgraded.... TOO MUCH MONEY go with the ITR cams!!!

Too much money??? Bla thats just being cheap, spend the money and buy some bigger cams than type R's. FInd a good valvetrain setup, and a chipped ECU thall be a fantastic power increase

if your looking just for a little power get the type r cams.... you can use your stock valvetrain but you wont be able to rev higher like some believe. just keep your rev limit at stock and you will be good to go

um. ctr/itr cams are known to peak @ around 8300 on stock itr ecu fuel maps/rev limits.

if u were redlining @ 8K like the stock gsr, u'd be cheating yourself out of a few extra HP, which, in the end, could make or break a race.

if i were you, i'd get ctr cams and some good headwork. u'd be shocked how far those cams can take you, all while being 100% reliable. remember, no aftermarket camshaft is as strong as oem. NONE. PERIOD.

think about that... then make your decision.

The type R cams are not a bad deal.
I have 2001 ITR cams and some used valve springs that came with them in my GSR,
plus I ported and polished the head myself using a variable speed 1/4" chuck grinder
that I got off Ebay and a head porting kit from Standard Abrasives (very cheap).

I also polished and port matched the Blox intake manfold with the same abrasives kit.

That's a cheap upgrade, especially since I was replacing the head gasket, and it
pulls like mad right up to 8100rpms, even with the GSR ECU.

I plan on going OBD-1 with a chipped computer to gain some tuning advantages.

I don't know why people are saying the type R has no torque down low.
It feels like I have more torque even at 2000 rpms (might be explained by the Blox IM).
