i got a itr climate control in my 94 db8. But the temp switch is really hard to adjust. And in order to get full ac I have to disconnect the temp cable in the engine bay and push the valve by hand.
I bought the car with the climate control, so i dont know if maybe the cable is bad or that I need a different cable for my application.
It sucks that I have to pop my hood and attach and reattach the cable when I want heat or ac.

This could be because whoever installed the a/c console did not do it properly. I had the same problem before and I just removed the whole a/c console, inspected the cable and re-installed it, making sure it was routed properly and not in a position where it was "stuck" or the cable pinched in anyway disrupting the functionality of the switch....works fine now. With that, have you tried pulling the assembly out and checking out the cable? If not its easy to do. 1 get a small flathead screwdriver and gently wedge out the two switches ( hazard and rear defogger ) and unplug them. 2: with a phillips screwdriver, remove the two screw which you should see sitting behind where the two switches were. 3: start pulling the a/c console out...but not all the way as you will have to unplug two more things. Afterwhich.....look underneath the dash on the passenger side. The cable in question connected to the temperature switch is hooked up to the heater core or whatever it is. Disconnect it ( you may need a needle-nose plier for this ). After you're done carefully extract the a/c console making sure the "cable" follows it out.
Check the condition of the cable and its functionality. If its messed up and not working properly then at least NOW you know you definitely need a new cable

I have a 94 DB8 with the itr climate control and the temp **** is smooth as silk. All you need to do is coat the section of cable thats exposed behind the CC with VASELINE...or generic petroleum jelly. Apply some on the tracks that the **** follows when switching from hot to cold. If you do this and route the cable the way it's meant to go, you should have no problems. I hope this helps.

instead of doing that.....you can look underneath your dash just behind the center console. The cable on your a/c unit actually hooks up to a lever. You can first disconnect that and move the lever back n forth to the temperature desired
( I wish I could get a pic of it to show you what I'm talking about ) But I still would recommend at least removing the a/c unit first and inspecting the cable just to make sure.

I think you're referring to the one on the console unit itself. I was talking about the "****" on the lever that the cable hooks up to thats located on the heater core. If you look underneath the dash on the passenger side you'll see what I mean. Especially if you remember where the cable routes to from the a/c console.

i am the original poster and found out this week that you do not need to buy a new cable to fix this problem...
i took my console out and unhook the cable hook that is attached to the heater core under the glove compartment.
checked to see if my switch on the console was bad or not.
it was smooth as silk so i looked at the heater core under the glove compartment.
there was my problem the outer jacket of the cable was not clipped in the the clip. so the tube movign with the cable, and sometimes would get caught with wires and that was why it was so hard to move the slider on the console.
i reattach the jacket to the clip and just a precation sprayed some lithiuom lube on the wire and worked it back and forth to work it in the cable.
went to the engine bay and checked that cable too and it was not in the right postion so i fixed that too and spray some lube on it too..
now it works like butter from cold to hot on the console...
