1991 Integra speed problem
I was wondering about any speed limiter or anything... I had a 88 civic hatch that was stock that would get up to 110 mph a lot faster then this car could make it to 100mph. It seems like from 85mph and up the car is extremely sluggish and I really was never able to get it past 100mph. as soon as 4th tops out at 100mph I put it in 5th and go no where. any help?

I agree, you lost torque after you left first gear.
My 1993 hit 122mph though, sounds like you broke yours.

I kinda wanted some real help with this problem not the opinion of a jackass.
Also I think I have an exhaust leak... Ive been messing with it. I just put on brand new 4-2-1 headers and got a full 2 1/4 Catback. I think I still hear some leak though. It could be in my head... but can that have anything to do with it?

i think that putting 2 and 1/4 could have done it...the problem with your car (which is the same car i have) is that as soon as you go with a larger exhaust, you loose torque.. i'm running dc 4-2-1's with 2" and i dont seem to have a problem...but that also does'nt explain why 1/4 would make a difference. hmmmm.... check your exhaust manifold for leaks or any leaks in your exhaust, becuase you could be disrumpting the flow of your eddie currents, causing some kind of restriction that causes you to loose top end power... i dont have that much top end either so dont feel bad...
you have a 91 with (probably) an LS tranny, and you're wondering why 5th gear doesn't take you anywhere. do we really need to address this question?
oh, yeah...you dont need to get anywhere that fast anyway, so don't worry about it.

Well I just took it out tonight its been a lot better since I put on a new exhaust gasket, still a leak but I think I kno where. I was lookin into getting some type of built motor to throw in... this old Ls isnt going strong unless I get a new head for it... who ever had the car before I guess crossthreaded a sparkplug so they re-threaded it with a bigger size sleeve. And when I put new ones in the lil sleeves that make it that tiny bit bigger kept splitting apart and not letting it go in right. So i prolly have some metal shaving on top of the piston and after I took it out tonight to check my speed I got it to like 110 or so, then the way home my idle dropped roughly and the car was running like poop at idle. So I checked that spark plug to find out that one of my spark plugs are banged up at the bottom cuz I suppose the piston was hittin it... It wasnt destroyed but it was types of chewed up. Im either lookin to get some type of b20/vtec, ls/vtec project, or maybe get a GSR or New LS with less miles to build.. Bad experience for me
